Lwsd Bargaining Agreement
marekbilek.cz - 10.4.2021Redmond, Wash. – The Lake Washington School District (LWSD) recently signed a new three-year contract with the Lake Washington Education Support Professionals (LWESP) until August 31, 2022. LWESP`s current collective agreement ran from September 2016 to August 2019. A succession agreement has been under negotiation since May. The District and LWESP recently tentatively agreed on a collective succession agreement. The LWESP represents all secretarial, accounting/payroll and other administrative support positions within the Lake Washington School District. LWSD and LWESP have tentatively agreed on a collective succession agreement. LWESP management granted the provisional agreement to its membership on 27 January 2020. LWSD`s Board of Directors formally approved the contract at its February 10, 2020 meeting.
During negotiations on the last contract, an interim timetable was drawn up for the 2017/18 school year. The only change in the final schedule for next year is that a pre-scheduled teacher-on-duty day on the Friday before Memorial Day weekend will now be a normal school day. This amendment allows the borough to meet in number the hours of courses prescribed by law. LWSD and LWESP are negotiating a new three-year contract. Copies of school calendars are published in www.lwsd.org online (click on „School Calendar“). The borough declined to comment on the negotiations. In the 2018 agreement between the district and the LWESP, a secretary at LWSD High School earned from zero to five years in the $22.50-an-hour position, or $39,780 a year. An LWSD office manager from zero to five years earned $23.52 an hour, or about $36,385. A detailed report on the salaries of LWSD professionals for 2018 educational institutions can be find on the LWSD (bit.ly/2KB3hVe) website.
The district and LWESP began negotiations on a new contract in May. Since the implementation of the McCleary decision in 2018, teachers have received a pay increase of about 12% across the country. Both organizations benefited from an interest-based negotiation process, which includes a common approach to problem-solving. „By focusing on what is best for students and our common interests, the team worked together to develop a win-win agreement,“ LWSD Superintendent Dr. Traci Pierce said in a statement. The calendar of the school year is developed by the negotiation process. The LWEA requested contributions from its members, while LWSD interviewed the parents. This input has contributed to information on the evolution of the calendar. LWESP members will participate in the August 26 school board meeting. The treaty also provides additional support in the areas of specialized pedagogy and elementary advice. The county will invest in additional special school staff, including teachers and professionals.
Each primary school is assigned a full-time counsellor to support the social/emotional development of students. As part of the contract, the two organizations negotiated the school calendar for the next four years, which will follow a pattern similar to that of the district`s current schedule. A red series lined the corridors of the Lake Washington School District (LWSD) Resource Centre on Monday evening (August 12). LWESP members work a different number of days per year. For example, the secretaries in the health room work 180 days. Headquarters employees work „all year round,“ usually 260 days. Others are in between. Members negotiated paid parties.
The number depends on the length of their working year. For example, if a person`s year of work ends in June, they do not have July 4 as paid leave.
