MICUP BEAT – MICUP at Eastern Michigan University is working with Wayne County Community College and Henry Ford College to increase the number of transfer students by providing a smooth path to a bachelor`s degree. The Michigan Transfer Agreement (MTA) was mandated in the fall of 2014 by the Michigan Legislature to replace the MACRAO agreement. The MTA allows you to transfer 30 credits of core general education courses from a Michigan Community College to a Michigan bachelor`s college or university.

Students can complete the MTA as part of an associate degree or a stand-alone package. MTA courses are approved by the Community College. With more than 140 transfer agreements with Community Colleges — more than any other university in the state of Michigan — Eastern Michigan University has long been considered the most transfer-friendly school for community college students. The EMU grants transfer credits for courses taught at regionally accredited higher education institutions or universities where the student has obtained a grade of „C“ (2.0 on a 4-point scale) or higher. Michigan Transfer Agreement (MTA) – allows students to spend 30 credit hours at a Michigan Community College and transfer them in bulk in order to meet the basic general requirements of education once the EMU application requirements are met.

Articulation agreements are renewed every three years and may receive minor updates more often. If an articulation agreement is not renewed at the end of its validity period, students who have already started the articulated programme will have an additional three years to move on to EMU, in accordance with the terms of the agreement.
